Polish farmers have suspended their blockade at the Medyka-Shehyni border crossing for the Christmas period, Ukraine's State Border Service announced on Dec. 24.
As the blockade by Polish truckers continues, over 4,000 trucks are waiting in line to enter Ukraine from Poland, Border Guard Service spokesman Andrii Demchenko said on national television on Dec. 23.
Polish farmers will suspend protests at the Shehyni-Medyka border checkpoint starting Dec. 24, said Michal Kolodziejczak, Polish deputy minister of agriculture. However, Reuters reported that truckers will continue blockades at three crossings and will allow fewer trucks to pass than earlier.
Ukraine's Border Guard Service spokesperson Andrii Demchenko said four border crossings are blocked as of the morning of Dec. 22.
Around 3,900 trucks are stuck in lengthy queues at the Ukrainian-Polish border, with 1,700 of them stuck at the Yagodin border checkpoint as of the morning of Dec. 2, reported Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for Ukraine's State Border Guard Service.
