Now that Covid is "over," AirAsia will now be killing its other operations in the superapp to focus exclusively on travel.

BIGPAY Malaysia Sdn Bhd, the financial technology arm of low-cost airline Capital A Bhd, is talking to undisclosed potential strategic partners to raise funding for its expansion across Southeast Asia. “We are in discussion with potential strategic partners across the globe who we believe can add value in fulfilling our mission across the region,” CEO and co-founder Salim Dhanani tells The Edge in an interview. Salim took the helm at BigPay in December 2020.

KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 16): Several small- and mid-cap energy companies on Bursa Malaysia were actively traded on Monday (Jan 16), amid the current recovery in crude oil prices.

THE recovery theme was well in play even before Malaysia began its transition to the endemic phase of Covid-19 on April 1 because markets traditionally move ahead of the economy and financial results by at least six months. Some stocks began to rally in the early part of the year as investors anticipated that they would benefit from the reopening of borders. While some companies have continued to gain after the reopening of all economic sectors, profit-taking has had an effect on some stocks despite turning in a better financial performance year on year.

The Ministry of Finance (MOF) has taken over the offshore patrol vessel (OPV) project from THHE Destini Sdn Bhd after discovering significant problems, including the need for the government to provide an additional loan of RM152.6 million to ensure the completion of the first vessel within this year.
