ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) on Tuesday called again on Turkey to immediately release Selahattin Demirtas, the former co-leader of the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP).

Turkish judicial authorities ignored a similar ECHR ruling two years ago.
The new decision states that Ankara should “take all necessary measures to secure the applicant’s immediate release.” Moreover, the court said that Turkey had to pay EUR 3,500 compensation in pecuniary damages and EUR 25,000 in other damages.

Turkey's Presidential Advisory Board Slams US Sanctions
Meeting evaluates steps to be taken against US’ wrong decision on issues of national security, says communications director.
Turkey's Presidential High Advisory Board on Tuesday condemned the US unilateral sanctions over Turkey's purchase of the Russian S-400 air defense system, said the country's communications director.
The meeting of the board, chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, lasted almost one and half a hours.
In a statement, Communications Director Fahrettin Altun said the board discussed the US' sanctions decision and matters pertaining to education and family institution.
The US' decision of unilateral sanctions on Turkey, a NATO ally, was condemned, it said, adding the steps to be taken against this wrong decision on issues of national security and sovereignty of Turkey were evaluated.
