In buffalo, new york, with some pressurization problem problem on this plane. we are getting varying stories. sky west saying a passenger simply unconscious. the faa saying it was actually a pressurization problem. what do you make of this? you don t know until they get everybody interviewed onboard, whether it was somebody who just passed out mid air. we don t know. looking at the track of the plane from flight radar, it almost happened in the worst possible location. they were right over one of the great lakes there and had to divert to buffalo. that s probably the closest large airport and why they chose it. again, they had to go north because they were out over open water when this thing happened. how rare is this type of event? very rare. that s why it makes the news ....

Clearly the oxygen masks will deploy. you have people losing consciousness and the pilot trying to react. a very frightening scenario for all passengers onboard if the door did come open or blow open in some fashion. we are waiting for more information from sky west from the faa and from people actually on the ground now. these passengers will be put on another plane. we do not know the exact number of passengers who were affected by this what we are being told is a loss of pressurization. sky west saying one passenger was unconscious but not confirming it had to do with pressurization problem. faa saying it was a pressurization problem. ....
The pilot brought the plane down rapidly and told atc he thought they may have a pressurization problem. because of that, they landed on an emergency basis at buffalo, that single passenger who we now believe had taken ill and passed out, was taken by paramedics to the hospital. according to sky west no other passengers had become ill. so this appears to have been a case where a bit of communication breakdown between the pilot radioing air traffic control reporting a possible cabin pressurization problem because one passenger passed out and then the ripple effect. as it stands now, this appears to have only been an medical emergency. they detoured to buffalo, that passenger was taken to the hospital. nobody else has been in any way affected and sky westin sifts they had no mechanical issue with the cabin door as had originally been reported. tom costello, thanks. still ahead, ben affleck s ....
