Gas and electricity prices will go up for millions of people across the uk in october. the energy watchdog, ofgem, has confirmed its biggest increase so far to the price cap for domestic deals to cover suppliers' extra costs. on average, households in england, wales and scotland on standard tariffs will pay an extra £139 a year from october. prepayment customers will see an increase of £153, according to the regulator. the cap, which is reviewed every six months, rose by nearly £100 in april. charities such as national energy action say this latest increase couldn't have come at a worse tim...
