India's retail inflation slightly dropped to 5.09% in February compared to 5.10% in the previous month, according to data released by the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation. This is in line with the expectations of economists polled by Reuters, who predicted a decrease to 5.02%.
At 5.09 percent, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation print for February 2024 was slightly lower than last month's data.

As per the data released by the government, the rural inflation came at 5.34 per cent in February.
There was no relief as far as pulses are concerned as they turned costlier by 20.47 per cent, while the prices of cereals went up by 7.83 per cent.
