Is unexcusable but the last time something like that -- like this happened and the u.s. was an attempted suicide, in a fedex cargo plane and the crew overpowered pilot intent on suicide. so this doesn't happen very often but we haven't seen fit to impose mandatory periodic psychological testing other than the annual or semi-annual physical that airline pilots take. aviation medical examiners -- these are doctors. they are trained to recognize this but they're not psychiatrists. they're psychologists. and there is a self-reporting on that form where you talk about changes in life events and so ...
