Puducherry voted to elect MLAs to its 30-member assembly in a single phase on April 6 in the shadow of a raging coronavirus pandemic.
Of the 30 Assembly seats for Puducherry Elections 2021, five are reserved for the Scheduled Caste candidates. As many as 10,02,589 were eligible to vote in the elections.
The Congress-led government in the Union Territory fell before completing its five-year term under the Chief Minister V Narayansamy who resigned on February 22 ahead of a floor test in the 33-member House (including three nominated members) following the resignations of five Congress MLAs and one Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) legislator. On February 23, President Ram Nath Kovind accepted the resignation of V Narayansamy and his council of ministers. Then lieutenant governor Kiran Bedi was replaced and Telangana's governor Tamilisai Soundararajan took the additional charge of the Union Territory.

Assembly Election Results 2021: Mamata Banerjee is set to retain power with a spectacular 200-plus seats.

Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress today won a landslide victory in Bengal. The Chief Minister, however, lost to BJP's Suvendu Adhikari in Nandigram. "I accept the verdict in Nandigram - it is not a big deal. Don't worry," she said.
"'
Khela hobe' did happen, and we did win. The BJP kept going on and on about double-engine
sarkar, while I assured you all that I will score a double century. This is Bangla's win... this is Bengal's win... this is your win. This win has saved Bengal, it has saved the culture and tradition of Bengal," said Ms Banerjee who ran a bitter, no holds barred campaign against the BJP over two months as Covid cases surged in India.

New Delhi: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is likely to form the government in Puducherry by grabbing 18 of the total 30 seats in the upcoming Assembly Elections due to take place on April 6, the
Times Now-C-Voter opinion poll has projected.
As per the projections, the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) may win anywhere between 16 to 20 seats in the Assembly Elections. The counting of votes will take place on May 2.
In the 2016 Assembly Elections, the NDA had won 12 seats.
Meanwhile, the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) is projected to bag around 12 seats. As per the poll, the alliance could win anywhere between 10 to 14 seats.
