Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) over the range of encroachments inside off-limits-for-construction zones of the
Mula-Mutha river under its limits, the civic body in 2020 appointed a private agency to clean up the river, spending crores of rupees on the muchneeded activity.
And yet, this local body — which is ideally tasked with executing NGT orders without fail — has now in 2021 been caught ironically violating the same instructions. PMC has reportedly started construction of a waste segregation centre (feeder point) right inside the flood line of the Mula-Mutha near Burning Ghat Road in Koregaon Park (KP), inviting outcry from local residents and citizen activists.
