that is what caused the heavy rainfall. just continuous lineup of thunderstorm after thunderstorm. producing a flooding rainfall. we still have flash flood warning across much of central and northern parts of kentucky. take a look at the video coming out of that region. unbelievable stuff. this is cars inundated and roads and parking lots turning into rivers. unfortunately, there was a confirmed death with this flooding event. the vehicle was submerged in a creek. police officers there reporting over 100 rescues from this event. floods were not the only concern as this line of strong thunderstorms continued to march eastward. we had several hundred hail and wind damage reports, not to mention about 14 still unconfirmed tornados that ripped through much of missouri and into the eastern portions of kansas. this line of thunderstorms

winter is hanging on my friends! look at the lows tonight across the great lakes the upper midwest through the northeast. we even have freeze advisories, freeze advisories for the easter bunny heading across the ohio and tennessee river valley. so maybe the eggs will be inside tomorrow morning? forecast temperatures we are going to see a little bit of snow across the great lakes and the interior northeast as we head into sunday. look at that. a stripe of maybe several inches of snow but where i'm from, you could see snow on mother's day. we don't have anything to complain about. taking a look at the northwest. we have a system moving in here. bringing more rain and mountain snow. the next couple of systems going to dip as far south as southern california and bringing beneficial rain to them and some snow pack. they need it. epic historic drought for california. much of the west very dry. they will take what they can get. over the next several days getting much-needed rainfall and some snow pack across those mountainous terrains. here is your easter weekend

the blaze started on friday morning. more than 200 firefighters fought most of the day to get it under control. you can see smoke and flames. they're billowing from the huge building. it's not clear what started the fire. luckily, no one was hurt. heavy rains have caused severe flooding in the u.s. state of kentucky. meteorologist derek van dam is with us. it seems heavy rain and flash flooding in some parts? >> we have some video to show you in just a moment. the fire you covered a second ago, was taken just outside of louisville kentucky, which is here on our map. we had a record of 5.55 inches of rain in a 24 hour period. that's roughly 140 millimeters of rainfall. this is all thanks to what is called training. this is something that meteorologists look out for. notice the heaviest rainfall bands that continue to move through the louisville and lexington region.

could bring some of this rainfall that has taken place over kentucky and tennessee recently. look at these totals in excess of five inches. that led to flooding. take a look at the footage coming out of the region. cars inundated. we had roads turned into rivers. unfortunately there was a confirmed death, a vehicle was submerged in a creek near the bettiville region. and police say there were 100 different floods during this flooding event. you can see the storm reports of hail and strong winds. even tornadoes as well. we have the perfect setup for stronger storms this saturday even, that continues to march eastward. basically the warm humid air marching with the cool and dry air. we'll have enough cool air across the northeast where we'll have snow. you see the temperatures for
