The BJP winners include Union minister Piyush Goyal and former state minister Anil Bonde, and Dhananjay Mahadik. The contest was for the sixth seat - the BJP had fielded former MP Dhananjay Mahadik and the Shiv Sena candidate was Sanjay Pawar, who lost.
The Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi and the BJP, had locked in a fierce fight for the six Rajya Sabha seats. Both of them tried luring Independents and smaller parties to get their support for respective nominees.
BJP's victory was convincing as its two candidates Piyush Goyal and Dr Anil Bonde won 48 votes each while the third one Dhananjay Mahadik got 41.56 votes, which was more than the Sena's first candidate, Sanjay Raut (41)
