More than seven lakh people register for Covid vaccine in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: 7.83 lakh people have come forward for the first phase of Covid vaccination in the city till December 29. Among them, 6, 55,317 were above 50 years of age.
According to the civic body reports, registration of around 20,000 healthcare staff from 2,192 private hospitals and clinics and another 33,762 health care workers from government health facilities including UHC, CHC, hospitals and medical colleges has been recorded through CoWin web portal.
AMC on December 30 organised a meeting-cum-training workshop of representatives from government and private hospitals and the corporation’s health staff and medical superintendents of government hospitals. Training of Covid vaccination has been given to 20 HoDs of malaria, health, publicity, estate, ICDS, fire, school board, tax, Urban Community Development, solid waste management and e-governance departments.

Minorities averse to registering for vaccine in Ahmedabad | Ahmedabad News

AHMEDABAD: Minority-dominated areas of the city are turning out to be a serious concern for the municipal corporation. Few persons have enrolled for vaccination in the wards of Sarkhej, Maktampura, Behrampura, Danilimda, Rakhial and Gomtipur.
The AMC has so far registered 6.55 lakh people who are above 50 years and another 24,800 who have co-morbidities, but are below 50 years. Also, another 4,000 people above 50 years and 2,500 persons with co-morbidities and below 50 years have registered online.
The AMC has also identified 40,000 government health professionals and 15,000 professionals in private hospitals for vaccination. Apart from this, an additional 50,000 frontline workers have also been identified for vaccination.

Despite two rounds of recruitment in 2016 and 2018, more than 50 posts of mathematics and science teachers are lying vacant in the Urdu-medium schools under Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation School Board for several years due to the “unavailability” of candidates under the reserved categories.
