Reacting to the incident, Union minister for home affairs Nishith Pramanik said, "The central government has taken the matter very seriously. This incident is very unfortunate... When a central agency is in a state, it is the responsibility of the state government to provide them security and safety. I express my empathy with those who were attacked today.”
The former food minister was arrested from his residence in the early hours of October 27 by the ED for his alleged involvement in the alleged multi-crore ration distribution scam.
Then commandant Ashok Gupta, two of his subordinates and a few businessmen are the accused in the scam that took place between 2017 and 2019.
