TAP's new chief executive officer (CEO), Christine Ourmières-Widener, who takes office on 25 June, said she is "well aware" of the challenges and believes in the importance of continuing the restructuring plan.
"I am well aware that Covid-19 has been and will continue to be a challenge for our industry, that the last year has been particularly difficult for TAP and its employees, and that we are living through a crucial moment for TAP, which we will overcome together, just like other challenges in the past. That is why I believe it is very important that we continue with the general strategy and the implementation of the restructuring plan," she said in a video message to workers, to which Lusa had access.

Algarve tourism businesses are being hit hard with new Lisbon weekend restrictions curbing staycations in the region.
Newly imposed travel restrictions for the Lisbon Metropolitan Area are having an adverse effect on Algarve tourism businesses with the president of the Algarve hoteliers association (AHETA) seeing the new rules as being another nail in the Algarve tourism coffin.
Speaking to Lusa agency, Elidérico Viegas, the president of the Algarve Hotels and Touristic Enterprises Association (AHETA) considers that the restriction of circulation in and out of Lisbon during the weekend, “is another blow for the Algarve, a region that had high hopes that the national market will help to minimise losses being experienced in the international markets”.
