Not only did we hit the ball well but Jack Polk threw well. Kaden Thompson and Caden Joneson also tracked down some balls in the outfield for us.”

Juniors can’t overcome first inning against Hastings by: James Parrish - Jun. 9, 2021 Sports The North Platte FNBO Juniors allowed Hastings to score five runs in the first inning on Tuesday and they never got back into it in an 11-1 loss at Bill Wood Field. “So much of what we do — hit-and-run, sac bunt, stealing bases, being aggressive and playing small ball is hard to do when you’re down 5-0 before you get a chance to bat,” Juniors coach Ryan Jones said. “If we’re going to be that kind of team, you can’t get in a big hole early because it stops us from being aggressive.”

Juniors sweep Columbus Sports The North Platte FNBO Juniors opened the season on Saturday by beating Columbus, 3-2 and 9-1, at Bill Wood Field. It was the Legion baseball debut for all 12 players on the Juniors. The Juniors didn’t have a season last year, due to COVID-19, as the North Platte program chose to field just one team. “It’s huge, none of the kids on the team played a Legion baseball game,” Juniors coach Ryan Jones said. “With what happened with COVID last year, it’s a new team and we’re very young.
