CBK has given mobile loan defaulters who have been blacklisted until May 31, 2023 to clear outstanding debt with financial lenders
CBK has announced that commercial banks and microfinance banks will give 4.2 million mobile borrowers at least 50pc discount on defaulted loans.
The new programme will allow the 4.2 million Kenyans listed on CRB to re-adjust their credit standing.
At least 4.2 million Kenyans have failed to pay $246 million they borrowed from banks, microfinance and mortgage finance companies.
CBK further urged citizens to honour payment obligations on their credit facilities to enable them to build a good credit history.
