I’m convinced of this. His moniker for making ambient drone music, Llyn Y Cwn, shines so hard in his latest release: Megaliths. An album where each track is dedicated to a different stone circle found all over the U.K. It’s taken him 25 years of travelling to each site and field recording their ominous presence to create this masterpiece. Make no mistake about it - it is a masterpiece. Carefully sculpting all sounds while retaining the mystery each site holds is very well done here. They sing with ancient wonder and you sense the old world magic throughout. I feel the tracks as I’m hearing them, and it gives me chills. Perfect to listen to in headphones with the lights off. You'll know you’re exactly where he stood from beginning to end. Music you feel, and believe me, you will feel it.Pinkcourtesyphone - Arise In Sinking FeelingsSometimes, you hear an album that sucks you in; that keeps you, and shakes you hard. One that sings to your soul, and makes you say “That,.. was a great album”. This is one of them. I had to go back right after and listen to it a second time. I needed to know if I really heard something that good. I did. Richard Chartier is a musical wonder. Someone who can take, what appears to be so little, and make it say so much. Layers of sound crafted to sound minimal. That takes a talent beyond what talent is. Seriously great album. I’ll stop gushing now. Actually, no I won’t.
