Pentagon Adds Training to Its Anti-Conservative Arsenal

There are a lot of threats in the world, but there is only one this president appears to care about combating -- conservatives. In yet another sign that America is doomed to a term of unprecedented extremism, the Biden administration just released its training materials for its "one-day military stand down" to weed out dangerous views. But what constitutes as dangerous? Good question, leaders say -- and not one they have an answer to.

Senate Confirms Kathleen Hicks as Deputy Defense Secretary

Senate Confirms Kathleen Hicks as Deputy Defense Secretary
The Senate late Monday confirmed Kathleen Hicks, a former Obama administration official, as Deputy Secretary of Defense.
The Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC) confirmed Hicks for the position by a voice vote after approving her nomination on Feb. 4.
Hicks, 50, was previously a deputy undersecretary of defense under the Obama administration. More recently, she led Biden’s transition team at the Pentagon.
Prior to her nomination as deputy defense secretary, she led the international security program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), and was also the think tank’s senior vice president.

Pentagon Chief Orders Military 'Stand-Down' to Address Extremism in Ranks

Pentagon Chief Orders Military-Wide Effort to Address Extremism in Ranks
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has ordered U.S. military commanders to spend time talking to their troops about extremism in the ranks of the armed forces, an issue that has been on the Pentagon’s radar for some time and one that its newly appointed chief has vowed to tackle.
Chief Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said Austin met with all of the military service chiefs and secretaries on Feb. 3 and told them he was ordering a “stand down” by all units in the next 60 days.
While details of the initiative are still scant, Kirby said Austin is determined to address extremism in the ranks of the U.S. armed forces and is gathering more information about how best to address the problem.

Pentagon Ousts Trump Appointees in Sweeping Purge of Advisory Boards

Pentagon Ousts Trump Appointees in Sweeping Purge of Advisory Boards
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Feb. 1 announced the ouster of hundreds of members of the Pentagon’s advisory boards, in a sweeping move that affects a series of last-minute appointees by the Trump administration, according to a Department of Defense (DOD) memo.
Austin wrote in a memo (pdf) on Jan. 30 that all members of 31 Pentagon advisory boards would be fired, effective Feb. 16. Additionally, a total of 40 advisory boards listed in the memo are to be subjected to a “zero-based review,” which will involve an “in-depth business case of every sponsored advisory committee, supported by fact-based evidence for [its] continued utilization,” a process that could lead to their future dissolution and dismissal of members.

Opinion: Defense Secretary Austin Plays Politics Right Out of the Gate

Khalid Mohammed
Retired General Lloyd Austin was confirmed as Secretary of Defense by the U.S. Senate on January 22, 2021, at 11:00 AM. An hour later, he was sworn in as the Secretary of Defense for these United States. Many of my military associates are cheering his nomination and subsequent confirmation. All isn’t as they claim, however.
Austin required a Congressional waiver, as he had not yet been retired from the military for the Congressionally-mandated seven years. I have no issue with that. Congress mandated the seven-year timeout for military members and most certainly has the authority to waive it. My issue with the newly-minted Secretary of Defense is the same one I have with the current crop of military officers, not only in very senior positions, but also the mid-grades. As we know, the mid-grades are the raw material that feeds the selection process for Flag Officers.

For second time in four years, Senate confirms ex-general as US defense secretary

Retired General Lloyd Austin was sworn in Friday as the new US secretary of defense following an overwhelming 93-to-2 Senate confirmation vote.

The rise of Austin, the first African-American to occupy the top post at the Pentagon, has been hailed by the Democrats and the corporate media as a historic milestone and manifestation of social progress. Newspapers and news web sites carried headlines about the “First Black Defense Secretary.”
Typical was the statement of Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer who stated on the Senate floor Friday that “Mr. Austin will be the first African-American to ever helm the Defense Department in its history—a powerful symbol of the diversity and history of America’s Armed Forces.”
