Gunmen suspected to be sea pirates operating along the Bakana River in the Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State have killed no fewer than four officers of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).  Whereas the details and circumstances of the encounter between the NSCDC operatives and the sea pirates are yet unclear as of the time of filing this report, recent reports by users of waterways in Rivers State indicated increased activities of attacks by deadly pirates.
