Odey Asset Management has swiped emerging markets manager Sophia Whitbread from Newton Investment Management for its newly created funds business. 
Whitbread (pictured) will join Brook Asset Management, launched by Crispin Odey’s eponymous funds business, in June as an assistant portfolio manager on its Global Emerging Markets strategy.  
There she will be reunited with long-time Newton IM colleague Rob Marshall-Lee who was poached by Odey last November to head up its brand-new emerging markets business.

Information technology (IT) companies are offering non-financial perks to employees to reduce attrition levels, which are likely to go up as the demand for tech professionals bounces back. Employers this year are offering more leaves, career enhancement paths, and flexible work environment as benefits, besides salary hikes to retain employees.
Hiring has picked up across the spectrum in 2021 and voluntary attrition may rise from last year’s low levels when people found it risky to change jobs during the pandemic.

Food processors have asked for lower and equitable goods and service tax rates on packaged snacks such as potato chips and pickles ahead of the GST Council meeting next month.
The industry has reiterated its request through the All India Food Processors’ Association (AIFPA), which represents large firms such as Haldiram’s, PepsiCo, Marico, Britannia, ITC and Bikanervala.

India added 3,239 megawatt (MW) solar capacity in 2020, down 56 per cent from the previous year, according to a report.  The adding of 3,239 MW of solar capacity was the lowest addition in five-years-time, Mercom India Research said in its report on Tuesday.

Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) on Tuesday announced the installation of disabled aircraft recovery kit, which will help the airport operator remove a disabled aircraft at the runway, and thereby restoring the operations at the earliest.
The transportable kit is capable of recovering Code F-compatible aircrafts during an aircraft incident on the runway, ensuring that runway closure is minimised, Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL), the private airport operator managing and running the KIA, said in a release.
