Many establishments, especially quite a few petrol pumps, have put up announcements that they will not be accepting Rs 2,000 notes anymore.
The RBI on Friday announced the withdrawal of Rs 2,000 banknotes from circulation and set a deadline of September 30 for the public to exchange or deposit the banknotes.
Congress MP and former finance minister P Chidambaram's remarks came after the RBI announced it will withdraw Rs 2,000 currency notes from circulation.
RBI has requested banks to provide deposit and exchange facility of Rs 2,000 notes until September 30, 2023.
