“First Act, Second Think (FAST). 2000 rupee notes introduced with such fanfare after that singularly disastrous Tughlaqi firman of Nov 8 2016 are now being withdrawn,” Jairam Ramesh, the Congress general secretary of communications said
"Thanks to the arrival of digital payments and especially UPI in the past six years, a wide majority may not have even a single Rs 2,000 note at home. Given an over four-month window, there is no urgency to exchange or deposit it," an official said
If the RBI itself will stop exchanging the Rs 2000 note, will it still be legal tender in practical terms from October 1st onwards? Can one still use it for buying goods and services? Can people refuse to accept it?
