Great documentaries often give access and illumination to stories that would otherwise go untold. The subject of a great documentary can be anything from a single individual's life to a broader political event, and the effect of the films can be anything from uplifting to devastating.
To celebrate the genre, Stacker created a ranking of the top 100 documentaries of all time by leveraging data on all documentary movies to create a "Stacker score" that serves as a weighted index split evenly between IMDb and Metacritic scores. To qualify, the film had to be listed as a documentary on IMDb, have a Metascore, and have at least 1,000 IMDb user votes. Ties were broken by Metascore and further ties were broken by votes. Documentary TV series were not included.

Temple Isaiah in Lafayette honored
Cantor Leigh Korn at its Jan. 31 virtual gala, “Make Your Own Kind of Music,” which was rescheduled from last year. The event celebrated Korn’s 15 years at the temple with pop, Broadway and Jewish classics performed by 12 rabbis and cantors from across the country. “Cantor Korn joined the clergy team at Temple Isaiah in 2005 and just completed his 15th year serving our community with his talent, good humor and dedication,” synagogue president Alan Gennis said at the event. “It is a privilege to partner with Cantor Korn on the senior leadership team of Temple Isaiah, and I speak on behalf of our community that we all look forward to his being part of the Temple Isaiah family for years to come.” The “attendance” was 375 screens tuned in for the 89-minute concert, which can be seen in full here.

100 Best Movies of 2020, According to Audiences

100 Best Movies of 2020, According to Audiences

When the coronavirus pandemic hit the United States in early 2020, movie theaters were among the first places to close. In many states, including New York, they have yet to reopen. With many national chains reporting devastating losses quarter after quarter—the country's three largest chains reported $1 billion worth of losses in Q3—many have begun to fear that the theater experience is lost for good.
But that doesn't mean movies are lost for good. In fact, it's quite the opposite: Americans are watching more than ever before. In April, a study found that the average American was streaming content (TV and movies) eight hours a day, and three out of four people reported watching more than they were in pre-COVID times. What we're watching has changed as well. Another study found that Americans were discovering they enjoyed genres like documentary, comedy, and true crime more than they'd thought, and demand for these types of titles has been increasing.
