Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman is said to have supported an Israeli plot to overthrow the Jordanian King Abdullah II in exchange for guardianship of the holy sites in the occupied city of Jerusalem, Lebanon's
Al-Akhbar newspaper reported.
The paper quoted a Jordanian security official as saying that the attempt to overthrow King Abdullah II was a "scheme" involving Israel, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and the United States.
According to the unnamed official, "the large and complicated" coup involved many parties, but the king succeeded in thwarting it calmly while preserving the internal and regional balances.

Why has there been a shift in Pakistan’s relations with the Middle East?
Islamabad needs partners to implement its economic agenda, while the Middle Eastern states require regional security
Pakistan’s relations with its long-standing allies in the Middle East have become strained since its decision to remain neutral in the Yemen war. The Middle East, for decades, has been one of the primary sources of financial and monetary support for the Pakistani state as well as the Pakistani people. Based on strong and deep religious affection, Pakistan has provided security for the Holy Places, sensitive installations, and other critical infrastructure in the region – especially to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. However, in the last few years, geostrategic compulsions have compelled Pakistan to adopt a balancing act in order to safeguard its core national interests.

Boris Johnson lobbied by Saudi prince

Boris Johnson intervened in a Saudi bid to buy a top English football club after he was personally lobbied by its crown prince.
Mohammed Bin Salman urged him to 'correct and reconsider' a 'wrong' decision by the Premier League, which was accused of blocking a £300million takeover of Newcastle United, it emerged last night.
The angry crown prince warned the Prime Minister last year that Anglo-Saudi relations would be damaged unless it was reversed.
Mr Johnson asked senior No10 aide Lord Eddie Lister, a Middle East expert, to take up the complaint. Lord Lister said he would 'investigate'.
The Saudis withdrew from the Newcastle deal last July – blaming the Premier League – to the fury of fans convinced the wealthy Middle Eastern state's investment could bring them new success.

CNN’s Dana Bash pressed Secretary of State Antony Blinken over whether or not he considered Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman (MBS) “a killer” during Sunday’s broadcast of “State of the Union.”
Bash sought to draw a comparison between President Joe Biden’s views of Russian President Vladimir Putin as “a killer” and his views of MBS, following U.S. action taken against certain Saudis over the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in 2018.
“The Biden administration did not directly punish Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman after the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, despite an intelligence report saying that he was directly responsible for approving his murder,” Bash began. “President Biden didn’t hesitate to call Vladimir Putin a killer. Do you consider Mohammed Bin Salman a killer?”

Lawyers for the fiancée of murdered Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, Hatice Cengiz, and advocacy group Democracy for the Arab World Now (DAWN), successfully served Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman (MBS) with the complaint they filed in the District of Columbia Federal District Court on 20 October 2020.
The complaint alleges that the 35-year-old crown prince, widely known as MBS, and several other Saudi officials were "acting in a conspiracy and with premeditation, kidnapped, bound, drugged and tortured, and assassinated US-resident journalist and democracy advocate Jamal Khashoggi inside the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul, Turkey," and that the murder caused the plaintiffs grievous injury and harm.

The four Arab states had demanded Qatar shut a Turkish military base, close the
Al Jazeera news channel, cut links to the Muslim Brotherhood, and downgrade relations with Iran. Doha has said it will do none of that.
High on the agenda in all bilateral talks is
Al Jazeera's coverage of Middle East politics as well as general social media activity in Qatar, both regarded by the four as inflammatory, three diplomats and the two informed sources said.
Diplomats said the Qatar-funded TV network has toned down its coverage of Saudi Arabia in a positive sign for reconciliation, but left it largely unchanged for the rest.

If Biden doesn't hold MBS accountable for the Khashoggi murder, Congress should
The Biden administration's refusal to hold Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman (MBS) personally accountable for his role in the killing of U.S.-resident Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi is both morally unacceptable and strategically counterproductive. Giving MBS the diplomatic equivalent of a get-out-of-jail free card will simply encourage him to continue a series of reckless policies that are sowing instability, repression and conflict in the Middle East - none of which are in long-term U.S. interests.

The U.S. is a sunset power in the region and the President faces challenges in reshaping American engagement here
It took just 36 days for United States President Joe Biden to order his first air strike abroad since taking office. On February 25, the U.S. bombed facilities used by Iran-backed militias in Syria, in retaliation for a rocket attack at an American base in Erbil, the capital of the Iraqi Kurdistan, earlier in the month, allegedly by pro-Iran Shia militants in Iraq. The next day, the administration released an intelligence report on the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi inside Saudi Arabia’s Istanbul consulate on October 2, 2018, which concluded that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ordered the operation. Separately, the Biden administration has taken steps to revive the Iran nuclear deal, and asked the Islamic Republic to comply with the terms of the multilateral agreement that was reached in 2015 but abandoned by former U.S. President Donald Trump in 2018.

The Trump administration was on the verge of securing a peace agreement between Israel and Indonesia in its final weeks in office, according to a former senior Trump administration official involved in the efforts. The official divulged that the negotiations between Israel and the world’s most populous Muslim state were run by then-President Donald Trump’s senior adviser Jared Kushner and Adam Boehler, then-head of the US’s International Development Finance Corporation.
Israel was represented by then-Ambassador Ron Dermer and Indonesia by Minister Mohamed Lutfi. To secure peace, Boehler told Bloomberg News last December, the US would be willing to provide Indonesia with an additional “one or two billion dollars” in aid.
