Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) President Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Al-Ghamdi met with United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Assistant Director-General for Social and Human Sciences Gabriela Ramos, SPA said on Wednesday. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence (AI) organized by UNESCO and Slovenia’s Ministry of Digital Transformation under the theme "Changing the Landscape of AI Governance."

Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) President Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Al-Ghamdi emphasized on Monday that the cabinet's decision to establish the International Center for Artificial Intelligence Research and Ethics (ICAIRE) in Riyadh, and its classification as a UNESCO Category II International Center, mark significant achievements in line with SDAIA's vision.

Saudi Arabia has launched a key initiative for the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) members - including Bahrain, Kuwait, Cyprus, Djibouti, Gambia and Morocco - that will support their research and development work for Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha announced that the Kingdom has launched the Generative Artificial Intelligence for All initiative for member states of the Digital Cooperation Organization, SPA said on Wednesday. The Saudi initiative will support research and develop and govern policies for Artificial Intelligence across member states. It will also increase awareness of its ethics and support capacity building for Artificial Intelligence.

The initiative is aimed at promoting policy, ethics, and expansion of artificial intelligence in the country.
