MONTGOMERY – Alabama High School Athletic Association Executive Director Steve Savarese announced plans to step down from the position he has held for the last 15 years effective July 1. He made the announcement at Wednesday’s annual Central Board of Control spring meeting.
  Savarese did agree to remain in the position at the pleasure of the CBOC until his replacement has been hired and has had ample time to adjust to the position.
  A very successful teacher, coach and administrator widely admired for his leadership skills, Mr. Savarese became just the fourth full-time Executive Director of the 100-year old organization in 2007. Cliff Harper became the first full-time executive director in 1948, serving until 1966. Herman L. “Bubba” Scott replaced Harper and served until 1991. Dan Washburn then served in the position from 1991 until 2007. ....

CIF-SS/NFHS Network renew partnership | Orange County Breeze


The CIF Southern Section (CIF-SS) and the NFHS Network are excited to announce the renewal of their partnership with a streaming rights agreement for local high school sports as announced today by CIF-SS Commissioner of Athletics Rob Wigod, and NFHS Network Vice-President Mark Koski. The new six-year deal will commence with this 2020-21 school year and will extend through the 2025-26 season.
This agreement includes the NFHS Network School Broadcast Program for CIF-SS member schools. Participating schools will be able to broadcast their own live events exclusively on the NFHS Network. More CIF-Southern Section high schools will now have the opportunity to bring live and on demand events to their families and fans at NFHSnetwork.com, while providing that school’s students the ability to learn about the broadcasting field. ....

Opelika, Northridge Close Strong to Claim AHSAA 6A Indoor Track Championships
BIRMINGHAM – Opelika High School’s boys and Northridge High School’s girls dominated the sprints and field events as both schools captured the AHSAA Class 6A State Indoor Track and Field Championship Saturday at the Birmingham CrossPlex Friday.
     The Class 6A boys and girls will competed in the first session Saturday, and Class 7A was scheduled to close the 51stchampionships in the second sessionbeginning at 3 p.m.
