Kiley McDaniel's 2021 MLB draft rankings 2.0 -- Is Jordan Lawlar or Jack Leiter No. 1 in our top 100?

The 2021 MLB draft picture is coming into focus now, with all the top prospects playing for multiple weeks and plenty of time for pop-up types to be seen multiple times by each team. After this group of the top 100 players plus seven who just missed, things really open up and there's a seemingly endless number of players you could squint at and see sneaking into the fourth round if things break right.
Texas high school shortstop Jordan Lawlar and Vanderbilt ace Jack Leiter started to separate themselves as a clear top tier in this group. Beyond them, a pretty consensus second tier has formed, with the majority of teams calling it an overall top eight with the players listed below in a similar order, but there's obviously some room for disagreement toward the tail end of Tier 2 and the top of Tier 3.

Canadiens vs. Flames: Start time, Tale of the Tape, and how to watch

After a big win over the North Division’s top team, the Toronto Maple Leafs, on Monday night, there were high hopes that the Montreal Canadiens would bring that same energy and drive right into Wednesday’s game against a struggling Calgary Flames team.
Apparently, that was too much to ask.
Montreal spent the full 60 minutes doing ... well, I don’t know what they were doing, but it wasn’t trying to secure the final playoff spot that’s for sure. In the 4-1 loss, the only player able to find the back of the net was Brett Kulak. Yes. Your read that right. The guy who hasn’t scored in over two years was the only one to get the Canadiens on the board.

TRAIK-EOTOMY: Does Joe Thornton still have a place in the Maple Leafs' lineup?

The numbers don’t add up.
After acquiring Nick Foligno and Riley Nash at the trade deadline, the Toronto Maple Leafs have 14 NHL forwards. The number increases to 15 if you include Nick Robertson, who has played in the past two games and not looked out of place.

Rutgers third baseman Chris Brito is off to a torrid start to the 2021 college baseball season for the Scarlet Knights.

Chris Brito remembers the incessant clanging from the Thunder sticks, the nonstop fight songs, and the fans dancing to K-Pop songs. His first experience of professional baseball is vividly etched into his mind, and it came from watching his dad play professionally — 7,000 miles from their Perth Amboy, N.J., home.
Although Tilson Briton spent two seasons in the majors — playing for the Toronto Blue Jays and Oakland Athletics in 1996 and 1997 — he never had the chance to bring his son to a game in America. Chris Brito, born in 1999, arrived in the world two years too late for that. After Tilson Brito’s stint in the majors ended, he played in the minors for a few years before deciding to play overseas. He bounced between the Mexican leagues and the KBO, the highest level of baseball in South Korea, for more than a decade.

St. Patrick's Day in New Orleans smaller, different, but not dead

NEW ORLEANS — You won't see crowded Irish pubs or streets today, but that doesn't mean people aren't celebrating and continuing certain traditions.
There is still a lot of green around New Orleans this St. Patrick's Day.
Bagpipes were still heard outside St. Patrick's Church for St. Patrick's Day mass.
In the French Quarter, many people were seen dressed in green and even a few in kilts to enjoy a St. Patrick's Day beer or two.
"Got to have the kilt," Sam Downing said. "Normally we’d participate in the parade and do a pub crawl, which I'm going to do a small one today."

With limited cap room, Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin not likely to be active at deadline

But he said he didn't expect to be too active ahead of the April 12 trade deadline.
"We don't have flexibility," he said. "If we give up only picks or prospects (in a trade), there's salary being added and nothing going out, it's not possible."
Bergevin said on Monday, the club had about US$30,000 in wiggle room with the maximum 23 players on the roster for the first time this season. He also is hesitant about sacrificing the club's short and long-term future.
"If the opportunity arises to go get something and I'm convinced, I'll look at it. I'm not saying I won't do anything," Bergevin said.

During a video conference Tuesday, Bergevin stressed that he has very little financial flexibility to make any significant moves before the trade deadline, but he didn’t totally rule out the possibility. Bergevin added that he expects Ben Chiarot will return to the lineup before the end of the regular season after the defenceman had surgery Monday to repair the right hand he fractured during a fight with the Vancouver Canucks’ J.T. Miller. Bergevin said he expects Chiarot will be back in about six weeks, so until then the Canadiens will most likely go with what they have on the blue line.

School shooting lockdown drills: Are they effective?
All of Van Duyn Elementary School in Syracuse, New York, went eerily quiet.
On that cold November afternoon in 2019, there was no sound in the school’s hallways except for the echoing of footsteps, going door to door between classrooms. Students and teachers crouched in the corners of the rooms, concealed by darkness. One young girl covered her mouth with her hands to prove she was keeping quiet.
Michael Thompson, assistant director in the Syracuse City School District’s Security Department, unlocked one of the doors and peeked into a third-grade classroom where some students huddled behind a teacher’s desk.
