It's not a political decision, usually. that said, you're right to say there are backups. this was one of those times where getting there, the motorcade would have taken 90 minutes or so. yes, i'm sure it would have created a lot of traffic. it's correct to say as well that the president if he wanted to get there probably could have made it happen. there are times i was traveling with president obama in ireland and he was flying to, i think it was montegal where he had relatives and they almost canceled that trip because he had to fly and the motorcade there and back would have been four hours...
