FireEye, Inc. enhances its Mandiant Advantage SaaS platform

Organisations faced a number of unforeseen challenges in nearly every business sector throughout 2020 – and continuing into 2021. Until now, businesses have been on the defensive, reacting to the shifting workforce and economic conditions, however, COVID-19 proved to be a catalyst for some to accelerate their long-term technology and digitalisation plans.
This is now giving decision-makers the chance to take a proactive approach to mitigate current and post-pandemic risks. These long-term technology solutions can be used for today’s new world of social distancing and face mask policies and flexibly repurposed for tomorrow’s renewed focus on efficiency and business optimisation.
For many, this emphasis on optimisation will likely be precipitated by not only the resulting economic impacts of the pandemic but also the growing sophistication and maturity of technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), technologies that are coming of age ....

Although the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency has made significant strides since it was established in 2018, it still has important work to do to fulfill its cybersecurity and national security obligations, according to a recent audit by the Government Accountability Office. This includes improving communication with companies that share responsibility for the security of critical infrastructure as well as soliciting private sector input on creating specific security plans for each industry.
The federal watchdog made 11 recommendations for how CISA can fulfill the requirements laid out in the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Act of 2018. That law established CISA as a stand-alone agency within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security with a charter to protect the nation s critical infrastructure. ....

Siemens Patches 21 Vulnerabilities in 2 Tools

Siemens patched flaws in JT2Go and Teamcenter Visualization.
Siemens has mitigated 21 vulnerabilities in two of its virtualization software tools that, if exploited, could enable attackers to gain remote control, exfiltrate data or cause systems to crash. It s urging customers to shift to updated versions of the software that fix the flaws.
In a patch update on Thursday, Siemens notes that the flaws, dubbed SSA-663999, are file parsing vulnerabilities that affect JT2Go, a 3D viewing tool, and Teamcenter, an enterprise visualization tool, in versions earlier than V13.1.0.1. Microsoft Issues Second Patch for Netlogon Vulnerability

A first phase patch for the critical vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2020-1472, was issued in August 2020.
The first phase of the patch was intended to address the vulnerability on two fronts: blocking both Windows-based domain members and non-Windows PCs that have been configured to disable signing/encryption as well as making changes to the Netlogon protocol for clients that cannot use the required signing/encryption, says Satnam Narang, staff research engineer at the security firm Tenable.
The second patch completes the patching process for those who did not earlier implement enforcement by automatically turning on the protective measures that were included in the August 2020 patch. The second patch effectively brings all users up to the same level of security. ....
