SGSC professor's reference book makes best new Journalism/New Technical Writing books list

Dr. Tulasi Acharya, South Georgia State College's Assistant Professor of English, has recently had a book ranked by BookAuthority as one of the "14 Best New Journalism Books To Read In 2023.” The book has also won the distinctions as "Best New Technical Writing Books" and "Best New Communication Books.” As featured on CNN, Forbes and Inc., BookAuthority is the leading site for book recommendations.

Dr. Greg Tanner named Interim President of South Georgia State College

University System of Georgia Chancellor Sonny Perdue today named Dr. Gregory M. Tanner interim president of South Georgia State College (SGSC), effective Feb. 1, 2023.  Tanner currently serves as SGSC’s vice president for advancement, government relations and athletics, and first came to what was then South Georgia College in 2012 as dean of students. The college consolidated with Waycross College in 2013 to form the institution it is today.

SGSC's Amy Hancock wins Outstanding Excellence Award in Marketing and Communications

The Georgia Education Advancement Council (GEAC) recognized Amy Hancock, South Georgia State College's assistant director of marketing and communications, for individual achievement and excellence in marketing and communications.
GEAC is a statewide organization for those at public and private colleges and universities who work in educational advancement, including the areas of alumni, development, publications, and communications.

SGSC education students celebrate beginning of final semester with pinning ceremony

South Georgia State College’s education majors began their final semester with a pinning ceremony honoring this important milestone in their journey through SGSC’s Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Special Education program.
