Walked this tough line. variety takes these giant, incredibly expensive ads from studios for its films and promotes this sort of oscar buzz for the film and actors. from the studios. but then also, they cover the business. but you know, as patrick goldstein of the "l.a. times" wrote this week, quoting somebody from the studios, a hollywood insider, that everybody in the business doesn't get variety so they can read the ads for the movies. they sort of get variety for the insight about the business. and if all variety becomes is simply the ads for the movies, then obviously, not everybody's goi...
