unfairly. chris: as someone who has spent 3 decades as a military lawyer and military judge, how do you feel about the president possibly granting pardons to people accused or convicted of war crimes? >> well, it depends on what case you're talking about. i don't mind the president looking at these cases but mayor pete said he shouldn't pardon anybody. i spent a lot of time in the region. we had a situation where we would catch a terrorist, legal system is so broken in iraq and afghanistan, they would be right back on the street the next day. that was frustrating to our soldiers. we also had a case where a young man went in and murdered family and raped daughter. that's not the conduct we want. military justice is about discipline and dealing with crimes. so the rules of engagement, conduct, a lot of peopled peoplt to make snap decisions under tremendous amount of pressure. look at the cases individually, let the justice system work its will. make sure that every soldier is looked at as an individual.
