When arch-rivals meet in Spain, the game is dubbed âEl Clasicoâ â a classic for both the fans to enjoy and where the players draw extra motivation. This weekâs âEl Clasicoâ will not be played in Spain but in Ramnicu Valcea â a town that was the epicentre of womenâs handball in Romania for nearly 30 years.
Between 2014 and 2019, the self-made Romanian capital of handball did not have a team in the DELO EHF Champions League, but SCM came back roaring as they aimed to return to the spotlight.
They did that, winning the Romanian league after pipping CSM Bucuresti in 2019. Now, the rivalry from the domestic league and Cups is moving into the premium European competition.

There are 16 teams vying for a medal in Denmark, but only one will take home the champions’ trophy. As usual, the EHF journalists have put their heads together to produce a power ranking, identifying the teams to beat prior to the tournament’s throw off.
Two years ago, France were the team to beat, but, this time around Norway look like worthy challengers to avenge their mediocre EHF EURO 2018.
8. Russia
Adding Ambros Martin to the fold last year was a cultural shock for the Russian team. Yet it did not look like it one year ago, when Russia won bronze at the IHF Women’s World Championship. In Japan, the match looked like it was made in heaven, with a perfect mix of experience and young talent and a special coach on the bench.

Spain arrive at the Women’s EHF EURO 2020 full of confidence.
While the 2008 and 2014 silver medallists finished only 12th in France two years ago, they made it all the way to the final of the World Championship in Japan the following year.
Playing Russia, Sweden and Czech Republic in what looks like a very open group B, Spain have high ambitions.
Is 2020 going to be Spain’s year?
Spain have a decent track record at major championships, with two EHF EURO, two World Championship and one Olympic medal.

IOM Partners with the Gabo Foundation to Promote Well-Informed Media Coverage on Migration

IOM, Private Sector Partnerships
Buenos Aires – Nobel Prize winner Gabriel Garcia Marquez of Colombia —known affectionately as “Gabo”— created the Gabo Foundation as an international journalism institution to promote better journalism and the stimulation of creativity. The foundation has committed, among other things, to promote links between migration and sustainable development, and curb xenophobia, racism and discrimination against migrants.
Mr. Garcia Marquez was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1982.
Because IOM shares his goals, too, this week the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Gabo Foundation signed an agreement that will allow for close global cooperation to implement initiatives aimed at journalists.
