UPDATED 1:49PM, APR 29 2021 Jane Chapple-Hyam expects Nell Gwyn second Saffron Beach to thrive on her first attempt at a mile in Sunday's Qipco 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket. The trainer anticipates the daughter of New Bay coming into her own over the longer trip and believes she may even develop into a Cazoo Oaks contender. She is a general 10-1 shot for the first fillies' Classic of the season and will try to emulate the classy Sky Lantern, the last runner-up in the Nell Gwyn to go one better in the 1,000 Guineas eight years ago. Saffron Beach will be ridden by her regular jockey Adam K...

UPDATED 7:20PM, APR 20 2021 Richard Hannon has confirmed impressive Newbury winner Snow Lantern will not run in the Qipco 1,000 Guineas next week. Their significance here is they all won the Greenham on the way to the top. Given the recent roll of honour and a murky 2,000 Guineas picture with just a month to go until the Newmarket Classic, the question is will we see a new miler jump to the top of the colt's pecking order.

Alcohol Free and Snow Lantern bolster 1000 Guineas claims with Newbury wins Sun 18 Apr 2021 Alcohol Free booked her Qipco 1000 Guineas ticket as she narrowly came out on top from Statement in a tight finish to the Dubai Duty Free Stakes at Newbury. Andrew Balding’s filly was the only Group One winner in the race better known as the Fred Darling, and as a result she was sent off the 9-4 favourite. Caught wide and with no cover through most of the seven-furlong contest, Oisin Murphy brought his mount through to take up the running over a furlong out and it all looked to be going to plan.
