New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy has signed a package of bills to send $235 million to small businesses throughout the state.
The governor signed Assembly Bill 5704 to designate $120 million for microbusinesses, Assembly Bill 5705 to allocate $10 million for child care centers, Assembly Bill 5706 to send $20 million to bars and restaurants, Assembly Bill 5707 to provide $50 million for small businesses and nonprofits, Assembly Bill 5708 to set aside $25 million to establish a program to help new businesses and nonprofits and Assembly Bill 5709 to give $10 million to the Sustain and Serve NJ program.
“Our legislation will provide $235 million in grants to help businesses and non-profits who were hit hard by the pandemic and are now deciding when and how to reopen, rehire and ramp up to full operation in the weeks and months ahead,” state Sen. Dawn Addiego, D-Burlington, said in a news release. “The six-bill package sets aside $30 million specifically for restaurants, and most important, it includes a $25 million fund for the new restaurants, retailers and service providers that we need to fill the vacant storefronts in our downtown business districts left empty by businesses that closed.”

In the 40 years that Haeng Chong has owned his Vancouver dry cleaning business, he’s never seen demand drop like this.
When COVID-19 first hit, the volume of customers seeking services from Fourth Plain One Hour Dry Cleaning cratered by around 90 percent, he said. People just weren’t going out much anymore — and that meant they didn’t really need to maintain their going-out clothes. Laundering those going-out clothes is his livelihood.

Pennsylvania says it's making steady progress on the vaccine front. Over the weekend, the state reached a milestone of having more than 3,000,000 Pennsylvanians fully vaccinated from COVID-19. Another 2.5-million are partially vaccinated. State health officials say nearly seven-million doses of the vaccine have been administered here.
While the Johnson & Johnson coronavirus vaccine remains on hold after six women reported cases of blood clots after receiving that vaccine, Gov. Tom Wolf urges Pennsylvanians not to overreact to the pause.
"There have been almost 7-million Johnson & Johnson vaccines that have been given out in this country and there have been six cases. Six. Out of nearly seven million," the governor says. Wolf says it's too early to say that, statistically, the J&J vaccine is causing an increase in hesitancy, but hesitancy was an issue they have been looking at since day one.
