Paua poachers banned from fishing Supplied photo/file. Two repeat paua poachers have been banned from fishing, both for three years. A Lower Hutt man and a Napier man were sentenced last week, in unrelated cases, for repeatedly taking excess and undersize paua. Ionatana Sasi, 51, was caught by fishery officers in 2019 with 144 undersize paua at Burdan's Gate near Eastbourne in Wellington. National MP Happy New Year. I hope that you had a chance to relax over the Christmas and New Year period, and that 2021 is off to a great start for you already. SunLive - Happy New Year Tauranga! - The Bay's News First

Labour MP I hope you and your family have all had a restful break after a very challenging year. I hope too that all our local businesses and retailers have benefitted from the holidaymakers who come to our beautiful region over the summer. As people are out enjoying the beach, walking through nature and visiting the shops, I spare a thought for those overseas who due to Covid-19 are not enjoying the same freedoms as we are in Aotearoa. Their challenges are a timely reminder to us that we can’t be complacent. While we cannot control the weather, we can do our bit to control Covid-19. By ...

SunLive - Heat returns in the east next week - The Bay's News First

Heat returns in the east next week File Image. MetService is forecasting a run of changeable weather to come. Summer is expected to make a brief return, before a cold front sweeps through and then pivots back to hot weather next week. After a couple of days of unseasonably cool temperatures across the country, things make a recovery on Friday. MetService meteorologist Mmathapelo Makgabutlane says temperatures warm back to average for January as a ridge of high pressure briefly moves in from the west. The reprieve will indeed be short-lived, as a cold front makes a steady march from the Tasman...
