US drug agency has an 'important' warning for smartwatch and smart ring users |
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning to smartwatch and smart ring users, advising them not to rely on devices that claim to measure blood sugar levels without piercing the skin. The FDA has not authorized any wearable device for blood glucose measurement without a skin prick, and using such devices can lead to incorrect medication doses and poor diabetes management. Patients and caregivers should report unauthorised devices to the FDA's MedWatch program.
