Christmas is not about happy holidays, merry christmas, the color santa and jesus is but what is going on in america with children that literally are being kicked off head start, they re hungry because of cuts in s.n.a.p. programs. 1.3 million you know the numbers. that is the war on christmas that we should be talking about because that feels like a true sort of contradiction of what the american values are supposed to be, right? right. this new budget deal, three days after christmas, 1.3 million people lose unemployment benefits and people making their choices about christmas shopping. right. right? knowing that the benefits are going away a few days later. i agree with you that the beauty of what christmas can do regardless of your religious affiliation and race is it can be i mean, it s i m a christmas nerd. which is fine! that s great! it can be a moment to reflect and ask ourselves what about peace on earth and goodwill towards all humans? ....
I have often said obama should come out for the eradication of medicaid and medicare and the elimination of all food stamps, s.n.a.p. programs, kol ocome ou say this is what i want done, no more food stamps, and watch republicans heads explode. the social safety net they would not know what to do. he said we re giving everyone a check for a hundred grand, they would be like no, no! anything that guy says. but it is a little enjoyable watching this whole process happen with the republicans. one thing that could shut down is the library of congress website where you can look up how your voters voted on something. that could be a good consequence of something. i want to listen to nancy pelosi far moment here because we re talking about the weakness of bad daddy boehner, but one of the strong speakers in america was nancy pelosi in terms of what she got passed. listen to her assessment of this fun thing she s watching right now. regular order. ....
The things that we have to do going forward, the budget and what the president is proposing, the national security issues, we left hanging the farm bill. still trying to work through appropriation stuff. can i ask you about the report in politico that house majority leader eric cantor is pursuing what they call welfare reform 2.0 for food stamps. the progressive center for budget and priority budget says 4 million could lose their food stamps. what do you think about this proposal? well, you may recall that the senate passed a bill that cut snap programs that includes food stamps by $4 billion. there was agreement among democrats in the house to go along with that. but the problem was when the house decided to take it up, they started out by increasing the $4 billion to $20 billion. ....
