The SA National Editors' Forum wants the disciplinary hearing of SABC editor-in-chief and head of news Phathiswa Magopeni to be held in public.
ANC head of elections Fikile Mbalula accused the public broadcaster of not showing the good side of the ANC by focusing on negative service delivery issues.
Phathiswa Magopeni, the head of news at the SABC, has been blamed for the airing of a TV programme that had been prohibited by a court. She says she has been set up and there are suspicions of pressure from the ANC on the SABC.
In a statement, the South African National Editors’ Forum said it had learnt of the SABC's decision to bring disciplinary action against Magopeni for alleged negligence and bringing the public broadcaster into disrepute.
Sanef says that it is outraged by Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula's attack of the SABC’s coverage of the November local government elections.
