Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, senior TDP leader and former Union Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju allegedly manhandled a woman on the eve of International Women's Day.
A video, circulated widely on social media, shows Raju slapping the woman.
The incident took place in Vizianagaram when the TDP leader reached there to take part in an election campaign rally for the upcoming municipal elections in Andhra Pradesh.

New Delhi: A BJP member raised the recent spate of attacks on Hindu temples in Andhra Pradesh in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday and demanded that the Union Home Ministry seek a report from the state. Raising the issue through a zero-hour mention, GVL Narasimha Rao of the BJP said more than 140 incidents of attacks on Hindu temples have taken place in Andhra Pradesh.

Endowments minister Vellampalli Srinivas justified the YCP government’s action against TDP leader and former Union minister Ashok Gajapati Raju. Ashok Gajapati Raju was removed from the post of chairman of Sri Rama Swamy Devasthanam located atop a hill near Ramatheertham in Vizianagaram district, after a 400-year-old idol in the ancient temple was desecrated by unidentified miscreants a few days ago. The idol’s head was separated from the torso and thrown in the temple lake.

The government on Saturday removed former MP P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju from the post of chairman/founder family member of the trust board of Sri Rama Swamy Devasthanam at Ramateertham in Nellimarla mandal of Vizianagaram district, accusing him of failing to take steps that could have prevented the destruction of the idol.
Mr. Gajapathi Raju was also expelled from the chairmanship of the trust boards and as the founder-family member of Sri Pyditalli Ammavari Devasthanam in Vizianagaram town and Sri Mandeswara Swamy temple at Mandapalli in East Godavari district, according to a memo circulated by Secretary (Revenue - Endowments) M. Girija Sankar.
