Toys for Kids thankful for 25 years of community compassion

Accompanied by members of the BHS Band, a crew marched the halls to find and congratulate Harold McMillon and Stacee Hetzel, who were selected to receive the honor. BHS Principal, Lindsay Smith, surprised the recipients with the recognition and joined representatives from Farmers Insurance – Dustin Larremore Agency and F&M Bank as they presented oversized checks to the winners. [Brownwood News file photo]With the Dec. 19 distribution day right around the corner, Toys for Kids is still trying to make up for lost time in it effort to provide Christmas gifts for families in need. “Every year we’ve always had toys coming in the door every day and this year we’re not,” said Toys for Kids’ Wanda Martin. “A lot of people don’t want to get out, so we could use quite a few more toys and we really need to focus on the teenagers.”
