Featuring Kahone Concept - Hometown for the Holidays 2020 | 105.9 The X

By Katie On The X
Dec 24, 2020
My first encounter with Kahone Concept (think: cajón) was in 2017 at the Sound Scene Express Awards at Spirit. He was performing alongside Starship Mantis, Wreck Loose, Kayla Schureman, and Honey (now Rave Ami). He was also up for Best EP that night for his release
Towers, which you can find on his Bandcamp
. His performance was tight, with impressive effects and a lot of energy. I never forgot the name, nor the way the audience was absolutely captivated.
Now, Ben Orrvick, the solo pop artist/producer from Pittsburgh is in regular rotation on the X with his single, "Maybe," part of this year's Hometown for the Holidays. His process started in his teenage years - he wanted to start a band, but found it difficult to find bandmates. He took it upon himself to teach himself a variety of instruments and continued to write, record and produce on his own. He named his project Kahone Concept after a cajón he made in woodshop. His professional bio explains, 'The name ... fits the ethos that surrounds his music: 'it’s important to find significance even in the smallest of things; we each find our own significance. It’s what gives us purpose.'” (Kahone Concept)
