February 03, (THEWILL) - A total of 4,613,291 eligible Nigerians with Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), will file out to their polling booths this Saturday, to participate in the re-run and bye-elections in some national and state legislative seats across 26 states of the federation. The affected states include Ebonyi, Yobe, Kebbi, Lagos, Ondo, Taraba, Benue,
No fewer than four million Nigerians are expected to vote, today Saturday in the re-run and bye-elections to fill 48 legislative seats across 26 states of the country. The INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, has however assured of credible exercises and tasked all stakeholders on support to ensure violence-free polls. Amid tension in some of the constituencies that are usually volatile during elections, the Department of State Services (DSS) warned Nigerians taking part in the elections to be of good conduct during and after the exercises in the affected states.
The ONOE initiative aims to synchronize the election schedules for the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies, thereby holding elections for both entities within a specified timeframe.
