Like many B-grade paranormal teen drama leads (here's looking at you, Elena Gilbert from
The Vampire Diaries) she's left to be a bit of a blank slate in skinny jeans. 
Her only true defining character trait is that she is desperate to discover the truth about her new life and so all of the supporting (and infinitely more compelling) secondary characters are incredibly interested in her for no reason other than it suits the plot.
Oh, and she discovers she is actually a changeling. A full blood fairy who was swapped with a human child at birth. A nasty fairy tradition that had apparently not taken place for decades, but is the reason why Bloom grew up unaware she was able to barbecue people with her mind.

Fate: The Winx Saga debuted in January on Netflix. It centered around Bloom (Abigail Cowen), a teenager who believed she was human for most of her life before discovering her powerful fire fairy heritage. Whisked away to a magical boarding school, Bloom meets five other fairies: vain light fairy Princess Stella (Hannah van der Westhuysen), brash water fairy Aisha (Precious Mustapha), surly mind fairy Musa (Elisha Applebaum), and plucky earth fairy Terra (Eliot Salt).
While the original series focused greatly on the friendships between the girls, the live-action show gave everything a more grim and dark overlay. Bloom’s quest to find more about her pasts ends up revealing secrets about covered-up war crimes and fearsome, yet charismatic, dictators.

One said: "I imagine Froy Gutierrez would be good as Brandon, but he would look too young compared to current Stella.
"I think Ross Lynch would do justice for Brandon, he did great for Harvey Kinkle, he totally delivered Harvey's well-known innocence and naivety, but sadly that Netflix version did his character real dirty."

“Fate: The Winx Saga” is a fantasy retelling of “Mean Girls,” except less funny, more dramatic and clichéd enough to rival any typical teen melodrama. 
An adaptation of the Iginio Straffi Italian cartoon “Winx Club,” the Netflix series replaces the childish fun we grew up with as kids with a dark storyline full of sex, drinking and pining teenagers. 
“Fate: The Winx Saga” follows Bloom (Abigail Cowen), a spunky and pretty Californian who enrolls at the prestigious fairy school, Alfea, after discovering her powers. In the Winx universe, fairies rule a place called the Otherworld and attend schools like Alfea. Each fairy controls a particular element, and in Bloom’s case, it’s fire. Bloom’s fairy friends—water fairy Aisha (Precios Mustapha), earth fairy Terra (Eliot Salt) and mind fairy Musa (Elisha Applebaum)—all know how to control their powers, unlike Bloom.

It’s like Harry Potter, but with a lot more fairies.
Fate: the Winx Saga is Netflix’s latest fantasy offering, a spin on the beloved animated series Winx Club. Unlike Winx Club however, Fate is determined to tackle darker themes: Death, betrayal, shadowy monsters and of course, bitter romance.
The series follows a group of young women attending a magical boarding school called Alfea College, but it doesn’t take too long for danger to bring them together.
The heart of the show is the Winx Club (though they aren’t referred to as such): Bloom (Abigail Cowen), Stella (Hannah van der Westhuysen), Aisha (Precious Mustaph), Terra (Eliot Salt) and Musa (Elisha Applebaum).
