Police say a woman was shot in the chest after answering a knock at the front door of her Newcastle home on Tuesday night — while a younger woman and newborn baby were inside — in what has been described as a "horrendous" incident.

Stacey Klimovitch, 61, and her 31-year-old daughter and eight-week-old granddaughter were inside the home when she was shot.
