The popular social media platform Twitter is reportedly being used to map monsoon floods in India's Mumbai. In this brand new initiative by the Climate Studies department of Indian Institute of Technology, keywords used in tweets by the local community will be used to map heavily-flooded areas.
Residents asked to tweet about floods in their neighbourhoods in order to make real-time geographically specific alerts.
