Ashok Leyland: "What is critical for us is to create the right network outside of India, find appropriate distributors in markets where we are currently not present," he added. In the last 16 months, the company appointed 13 distributors in the African market with some of them having their own Assembly facility.
The series of vehicles, named IeV, are the country's first electric commercial vehicles produced by Switch Mobility and aims to provide efficient and eco-friendly solutions for last-mile transportation needs, a company statement said.
The vehicles have a 330 V high voltage EV architecture and are equipped with spacious cargo bodies. The company has secured 13,000 orders for the vehicles, including from e-commerce players such as Amazon and Flipkart. The vehicles will be manufactured at Ashok Leyland's production unit in Hosur and will be exported to neighbouring countries initially.
The IeV range comprises of two models- the IeV3 and IeV4, based on the Ashok Leyland Dost series.
