Mercury to drop to as low as 10°C on Valentine's Day

Temperatures are to plummet by about 10°C on Valentine’s Day tomorrow, with highs of around 15°C, the Central Weather Bureau said yesterday.
Bureau forecaster Huang En-hong (黃恩鴻) said that similar temperatures and weather patterns to yesterday would continue until noon today, when the arrival of a cold front would increase chances of rain across Taiwan.
With northeasterly wind and a continental cold air mass continuing to move south tomorrow, temperatures would gradually drop, he said.
Temperature fluctuations of 9°C to 10°C are possible, with highs of 24°C today and about 15°C tomorrow, Huang said.

LUCfest to feature more than 60 local, international acts

As COVID-19 restrictions continue to ease, this year’s edition of the showcase music festival LUCfest is to rock Tainan with more than 60 domestic and international acts from Nov. 25 to 28, organizers said.
The four-day event is to feature 60 to 80 artists and bands on six stages throughout the historic city, while industry professionals from around the world, including artists and record company executives, are to participate in online panels and networking events, festival cofounder Hung Wei-ning (洪維寧) said.

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Tainan’s Tourism Bureau encouraged the public Tuesday (March 9) to head to the city's outskirts to view its flowering kapok trees.
In a press release, the bureau recommended rural Baihe District’s Linchupi (林初埤) and Jiangjun District’s Lingziliao (苓子寮) to see the flowers.
The kapok blossoms along Linchupi Kapok Road, once hailed as one of the top 15 flower roads in the world, attract hoards of visitors and photographers every year during flower season.

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — "Greetings from the Whale," a public art installation in Tainan, was recently recognized by the LIT Lighting Design Awards, according to the Tainan Tourism Bureau.
Created by Taiwanese artist Yang Shih-Yi (楊士毅), the 23-meter-long work received an honorable mention at the U.S. competition, its third major honor following the 2019 Taiwan Landscape Award and 2020 IESA American International Lighting Design Award. The Tainan City Government installed the whale in January 2018 to promote boat tours at Anping Harbor, and it has become a major tourist attraction for the area.

Tainan, Feb. 22 (CNA) An installation art work located near Anping Harbor in Tainan was recently honored for its lighting design by the LIT Lighting Design Awards, the city's Tourism Bureau said Monday.
The work, "Blessings from the Whale" created by Taiwanese artist Yang Shih-yi (楊士毅) in 2018, received an honorable mention at the awards, its third major honor after garnering a Taiwan Landscape Award in 2019 and an IESA American International Lighting Design Award in 2020.
The 23-meter long, 11.5-meter wide, 11.6-meter high whale-shaped work, set with 448 pieces of colorful glaze-fired glass, was installed on Big Fish Square under the Anyi Bridge at Anping Fishing Port to promote boat tours of the Anping Yunhe canal.
