Mass vaccination centers aim for at least 800 injections daily

Starting Monday, two mass vaccination centers will be opened in Tallinn - one in Mustamäe and the other in Lasnamäe. As planned, a person administering the vaccines at the center should be capable of inoculating 15 people in an hour.
While the burden of vaccinating people in Tallinn has so far fallen on the shoulders of family physicians and hospitals, two vaccination centers will be opened in the capital city next week - open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The Kaja cultural center (Kaja Kultuurikeskus) in Mustamäe will be operated by the West Tallinn Central Hospital, vaccinations at the Tondiraba Ice Hall (Tondiraba spordihall) will open on Tuesday as medics at the East Tallinn Central Hospital are occupied with frontline vaccinations to start the week.

Hospitals encouraging risk group patients to register for vaccination

Several hospitals across Estonia are inviting all people in risk groups, regardless of age, to make appointments for coronavirus vaccinations.
Viljandi, West Tallinn Central and Narva hospitals are encouraging people to get vaccinated. Viljandi and Narva hospitals will carry out vaccination days next week.
West Tallinn Central Hospital
West Tallinn Central Hospital has opened COVID-19 vaccination appointments to all people over the age of 18 who belong to a risk group, and to everyone born in 1956 and earlier.
Vaccination is taking place with the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine Comirnaty.
Information about belonging to a risk group can be found from the opening page of the Patient Portal at www.digilugu.ee under the heading "My data". A person's family doctor can also give information about belonging to a risk group.

Hospitals have begun to close coronavirus wards

Many hospitals have either completely or partially closed their coronavirus wards. However, people awaiting hospital treatment must still wait as intensive care units are still burdened by the virus and the over-worked healthcare workers need a few days off to recover.
The coronavirus pandemic has not hit only the major hospitals of Tallinn, but also smaller county hospitals as well. In fact, there have been times in the COVID-19 ward of Läänemaa Hospital this year where there are more coronavirus patients being treated than there were places.
"At the peak, we have had 19 patients on our 18 bed places, we have even had to get an extra bed there," said hospital chief Edvard Garder. "This stems from us not being able to send them anywhere else and the problem usually got solved in two-three days."

'Critical' situation at Tallinn, north Estonian hospitals

Hospitals in Tallinn and north Estonia are running out of beds to treat patients with coronavirus. Hospitals in other regions are helping with equipment and bed space but are also seeing a rise in patients.
On Monday, ETV's "Aktuaalne kaamera" (AK) reported hospitals are fast running out of beds and staff to treat patients with coronavirus despite daily reorganization.
At East Tallinn Central Hospital there were no free beds left on Monday afternoon and new COVID-19 patients will now to be sent to other hospitals in Estonia.
