Dito admits obstacles in serving remote areas – The Manila Times

Dito Telecoms, the country’s third telco, admitted that it would be unable to service remote areas because of time limitations and the pandemic.
Dito made the admission after it was challenged by Sen. Grace Poe to fulfill its commitment to cover 37 percent of the population during its first year of operations.
The senator said the company committed to serve 7,435 villages on its first year of application with a minimum speed of 27 mbps (megabits per second).
Dito Telecom Chief Technology Officer Rodolfo Santiago said that the company will initially focus on populated areas.
“Since we’re only given one year to achieve the 37 percent population coverage, we prioritized areas that are most densely populated,” he said.
